The SCW Line Dance Club is one of the largest in the country and is a great way to meet people in your community. No dance partner is needed. The atmosphere is relaxed, people are friendly and dress is casual. We have a variety of classes to choose from to meet your dance level and interest taught by Kort Kurdi, who has more than 15 years of experience working in adult communities. The choreographed routines include many dance styles, such as the waltz, rumba, cha cha, tango, mambo and many others. Popular line dance routines are performed to a variety of music from Latin to disco to oldies.
If you're new to line dancing, consider taking our beginner workshop program where you will receive more instruction in the basic steps and perform dances that will give you practice transitioning from one step to another. Many of our new members describe themselves as having “two left feet,” and are surprised when they are line dancing after taking the beginner's workshop. Kort makes the learning process easy and fun and you will relate to the every day experiences he uses to explain the dance steps. We have beginner workshops starting every month. Once you have the basic steps down, try our beginning dance class at 12:30 on Wednesdays which moves at a faster pace and provides more practice dancing with less instruction. Our easy intermediate workshop introduces higher level dances using more turns and challenging steps. We have also added two specialized teach classes on Mondays which provide a more detailed breakdown of specific dances we do during the Wednesday classes. If you are not sure which class is for you, you are welcome to come watch a class free of charge or you can participate as a guest up to three times in a calendar year for an additional $1 dance fee over what club members pay.
Membership in the Line Dance Club is $5 per calendar year, which provides you access to all of the club's line dance classes, workshops and evening line dance events. Guests who live outside SCW may attend as a guest of a member up to three times in a calendar year for $1 additional over the fee charged to members for classes and workshops, and $2 over the fee charged to members for the evening line dance.
